Toyota’s October 2 announcement for the U.S. 2027 Corolla Cross removes the entry Hybrid S grade, leaving Hybrid SE and XSE. Gas versions continue as L, LE and XLE, with the rest of the lineup described as carrying over its features and specifications.

The stated starting MSRP is $25,535 for gas L FWD and $31,415 for Hybrid SE, each excluding dealer processing and handling. Toyota expects U.S. arrivals this fall.

The entry-price gap is not a like-for-like hybrid premium

Subtracting those starting prices gives $5,880. But the result compares different grades and drive configurations, so it does not isolate the cost of the hybrid system. The Hybrid SE includes AWD, while the headline gas price is for an L with front-wheel drive.

A buyer who wants AWD should request a gas AWD quote before calculating the difference. Someone who also wants particular convenience features needs to match those features, too. Otherwise, a price comparison bundles together drivetrain, trim and equipment changes without showing how much each contributes.

What the two powertrain paths offer

The gas 2.0-liter engine makes 169 hp and offers FWD or AWD. The hybrid produces 196 total system hp with standard electronic AWD. Toyota’s release lists manufacturer-estimated combined figures of 31 mpg for gas FWD, 30 mpg for gas AWD and 42 mpg for the hybrid in its detailed powertrain section.

Use those figures as announced estimates when comparing the configurations; confirm the applicable certification and window-sticker figures for the vehicle being sold. A fuel-cost comparison also needs the same annual mileage and gasoline-price assumptions for both cars.

Check screen and convenience equipment by grade

An 8-inch multimedia touchscreen is standard, with a 10.5-inch upgrade offered on selected grades. The LE adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, wireless charging and roof rails over the L.

These distinctions can matter more in daily use than the headline starting price. Write down the features you actually require and compare cars that satisfy that list. A lower advertised grade may remain the sensible choice if the added equipment has little value for your use.

Because the Hybrid S leaves the range, shoppers comparing remaining prior-model inventory with a 2027 should confirm the grade as well as the year. Do not assume the least expensive hybrid listing represents the new model-year entry configuration.

Specifications, pricing exclusions and timing are from Toyota’s October 2 release, updated October 20. No dealer inventory or transaction price is implied by those national announcements.
